What are the Disadvantages of Six Month Smiles
Monthly follow up dentist visits are required, which can often prove frustrating though not necessarily excessive. Patients must also be over the age of fifteen to use the treatment. It is also important to understand that six month smile braces can only be used in cases of minor adjustment. If a patient requires bite alteration, alternative treatment may be required.
As with most treatments of this kind, some initial discomfort may occur with speech becoming slurred and the risk of additional salivation. In some extreme cases where space is required to relieve crowding, polishing between teeth or removal of an entire tooth may be required to make space.
