How does Inman Aligner work?
The Inman Aligner works using something called a lingual coil spring. This small spring places pressure on the teeth targeted for repositioning. It is countered by something call the labial bar, a thin plastic bar which runs across the front of the teeth and works to push against the lingual coil spring. This creates a squeezing effect on the designated teeth, which leads to the treatments unique aligning effect.
It is important to stress that while the device does have a squeezing effect on teeth, dental movement that occurs as a direct result of the presence of the Inman Aligner, remains within the tooth’s potential field of movement. More extreme readjustment may require alternative treatment.
The gentle pressure applied by the device is the main reason that it works so effectively. Scientists point to the reduction in the level of pressure created by the Inman Aligner. This can in fact reduce the natural resistance of the tooth to movement, which therefore increases the overall speed of the process.
The Inman Aligner is able to maintain a constantly high level of tension on teeth thanks to tiny nickel titanium springs. The presence of nickel titanium as opposed to plastic or other materials used in the treatment, means that the device can effectively maintain these high tension levels, leading to quickened results for the user.
