I don’t think my aligners have fully straightened my teeth yet

January 8th, 2013
Q.

Dear Tif,
I have been wearing the IA for 3 months on my upper arch. My dentist says we are done and on the last visit he took moulds and got them sent off for a retainer to be made. However I have noticed in the mirror that the middle of one of my lateral incisors doesn`t actually touch the acrylic bar. There is a 0.5 mm gap. It looks a lot better but isn`t perfectly straight. On my next visit I will be given my retainer. What is your advice on this please?
Also my dentist never adjusted the brace throughout the treatment? Is this normal? I heard people had theirs tightened up?

Thank you for your time Dr Qureshi and look forward to your reply.

Why is my Inman aligner not moving my teeth yet?

October 19th, 2012
Q.

Dear Tif

I have been wearing the Inman Aligner for 20 days for 20 -21 hours a day on my upper teeth. I don`t see any difference yet, which worries me. My dentist did the filing on 1 tooth on my 1st appointment. I am worried it wasn`t done properly or he didn`t create enough room. Also the back acrylic bar goes slightly over my teeth. I can see it from the front when I smile. Shouldn`t it be completely hidden behind my teeth to do all the pushing? My teeth do feel slightly wobbly, so hopefully it`s working….

My aligner is still hurting my mouth after 2 weeks, is this normal?

November 22nd, 2011
Q.

my teeth and mouth feel pretty sore after my first 2 weeks with the aligner and i am worreid that it isn’t going to subside. is it usual to have the mouth and teeth still hurting after the first couple of weeks? I have to admit that it isn’t as painful as it was right at the start, but i just keep cutting my gums on the braces, which im worried will become infected. Is there anything that i can do to ease the pain of the braces and stop them cutting into my gums? Im using corsodol mouthwash, to protect my gums, but that is pretty painful in itself to be honest

thanks for your help Doctor

I fell while wearing my Inman Aligner, can the damage be corrected?

September 26th, 2011
Q.

i fell on my face whilst wearing my inman aligner, and now im really worried that i have put the whole system off balance. The brace certainly feels looser than it did before and i am worried that it won’t be straightening my teeth properly anymore. I am planning to see my orthodontist as soon as possible but i was just wondering about the likelihood of the brace being damaged beyond repair and if that was the case what would happen? Would I have to pay for another brace to be made and sent to the practice?

any help you have would be really great, because im just so worried!

The spring of my Inman Aligner seems to have loosened, is this normal?

August 5th, 2011
Q.

hello

i have been wearing my brace for about a month and was definitley seeing some improvement, but now, i dont know how, the back spring isn’t as tight, or well ‘springy’ as it was before. I dn’t know what has happened but obviously it isn’t going to be treated my teeth as well now as it was before. Do you think my dentist wil be able to fix the brace and if not, do you think it possible to get another brace, without having to pay again? I have taken very good care of my brace and I really don’t want to be paying extra for a potential unfixable malfunction.

Any help you can give would be greatly appreciated
thank you
